Product Description
The New York Times and international bestseller-now updated with the latest research

Anticancer has been a bestselling phenomenon since Viking first published it in fall 2008. Now, a new edition addresses current developments in cancer research and offers more tips on how people living with cancer can fight it and how healthy people can prevent it. The new edition of Anticancer includes:

• The latest research on anticancer foods, including new alternatives to sugar and cautions about some that are now on the market

• New information about how vitamin D strengthens the immune system

• Warnings about common food contaminants that have recently been proven to contribute to cancer progression

• A new chapter on mind-body approaches to stress reduction, with recent studies that show how our reactions to stress can interfere with natural defenses and how friendships can support healing in ways never before understood

• A groundbreaking study showing that lifestyle modification, as originally proposed in Anticancer, reduces mortality for breast cancer by an astounding 68 percent after completion of treatment

• New supporting evidence for the entire Anticancer program

This book was a huge disappointment. It is barely readable. It appears the author found articles and lists on the Internet about the topic, and copy-pasted them into a Word document. The result is a confusing hodge-podge of disorganized and unsubstantiated hype. Frankly, I found it almost insulting. The author took very little care in crafting this book, and appears to have little regard for his readers. It reads more like a series of advertorials, and, while there might be some worthwhile information buried in this mess, it is clearly aimed at uncritical, uneducated readers who believe anything anyone tells them. Don’t waste your money.

As a stage 4 cancer fighter, I admire Dr. Servan-Schreiber as I do Lance Armstrong, but feel that their inspiring stories and attitudes may be difficult for most ordinary people to emulate and relate to. I wrote I’m Not Lance!: A Cancer Experience and Survival Guide for Mere Mortals for ordinary people and their supporters. I donate all book sales to the Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative. I’m earning rave reviews here on amazon from readers and from professional critics. If you lack the competitiveness and endurance of Lance or the expertise and mettle of Dr. Schreiber, consider my book. It’s a cancer book for the rest of us.

Stephen J Gould DID die of abdominal mesothelioma 20 years later and not of another disease. Such a glaring mistake would cause me to be skeptical of other information in this book. The abdominal mesothelioma was removed and some malignant mesothelioma cells were left behind.Over the 20 yrs ,post excision these cells migrated into the lungs and a walnut sized tumor developed in the lung growing undetected during this time The malpractice case is in the courts,on behalf of Steven J Gould brought by his wife and has yet to be decided.I have prostate cancer and regardless of where the metastasis is located, being the bone or soft tissue,it is still regarded as prostate cancer and that goes for any cancer including mesothelioma.Gould’s cancer is still mesothelioma even though it was located in the lung and other soft tissues. The question is why did it remain undetected for so long a period?

I haven’t read the book yet, but gave it 5 stars, because it’s about time medical doctors realize that integrative medicine (and especially diet) is key to good health. My mentor, Andrew Weil, MD, has been saying this for years and years!! Dr. Weil’s books and website are excellent! It would be wonderful if all medical doctors would realize the importance of integrative medicine without having to first become a patient.

I bought and paid for 2 of these books – one to give to a friend. This was around 31 May 2009. Today is 2 July and I still haven’t received them. It is very disappointing and I am quite angry about it because the shipping was very expensive and altogether, it cost me some NZD$100 which is a lot of money.

The rate this item is for the book – NOT THE SELLER!!! My sister has this book, so I am rating it based on what little I have read.

What are my rights in this instance? If this is how it’s like and it’s my first time buying anything from Amazon, then I won’t bother buying again. I am really PISSED OFF. If someone from Amazon could get back to me, I would be grateful.
