My transaction:
This book matches totally to the given description, but if I used Amazon, it was to get better prize than with traditional markets. I am a confirmed eBayer, but I bought a book through Amazon for the first time, because I found a little difference with my bookshop. Unfortunately, I have been very disappointed with the shipment delay, and more importantly by additional taxes increasing the prize by 15 USD.
The book:
We can consider that Immunology Textbook World is dominated by 2 major complementary series of books. The first one is Janeway’s Immunobiology serie, and the second one is the serie directed by Abbas.
The present book ‘Basic Immunology’ is written in a concise and precise style, which allows a successful first contact with all the basics, and the most recent development of Immunological topics.
Readers will find useful figures and tables which allow a better understanding. The comprehension is also improved with the absence of unuseful details. This keeps students from been drowning in unsuitable complexity, but importantly the rigour is met.
A good choice to make your first steps with Immunology (or remember them), and make a long way in the most specialised areas of the immune system studies.

This book is a bit under 300 pages and is small and easy to carry around, although not quite pocket sized. It lives up to its title and does indeed give the reader a basic and bare bones overview of immunology. A chapter can be read in about an hour and a dedicated student could read the entire book in a week. We used this with our first-year immunology course in medical school and I read the text in its entirety four entire times. The chapters are designed to be more or less self contained, and there is a lot of repetition, although I found this to be beneficial in terms of actually committing the material to memory. For first time students of immunology, I highly recommend this text as a starting point. It’s small size make it ideal for quick review before taking the USMLE exam, as well, while larger books would be unsuitable for this task.

Easy to use, easy to read. I enjoyed this even though it was a library copy.

This book is very concise and has excellent pictures and tables to depict the most pertinent information about Immunology. The graphics and tables are all colorful and easy to understand. That said, the book is not as detailed as some other books out there, but for my course I took in pharmacy school, it was good enough. Where it lacked in detail I picked up in the lecture. This book is excellent for understanding immunology, especially if it’s your first time ever taking immunology.
