I never write reviews, but, since I decided to return it, but found shipping would have been almost as much as the book itself, I’m stuck with an item that is usless to me. I was very displeased with this book. It called for eating sugar and starches not healthy for diabetics. Makes no common sense!

Not much a a help in preparing diabetic meals, Not enough information on diabetes in the book and not many recipes for the price.

I guess this is an ok cook book; it just doesn’t suit my needs. Most, if not all, recipes require ingredients that I don’t use regularly. Some recipes use ingredients I have never even heard of. To people who cook often and use the different types of spices, herbs, and vegetables that are called for in these recipes, this probably wouldn’t be an issue at all. As for myself, I don’t want to go spend a small fortune stocking up on what I consider ‘exotic’ type spices only to find that I don’t even like the recipes that call for them. They would then sit on the shelf forever, never to be used again.
Also, I looked at some of the recipes and it seems that they have way more sugar and carbohydrates (or foods that contain them) than diabetic meals should have. The whole point, I thought, was to be able to make diabetic-friendly meals, which means having little or no sugar or carbohydrates. (I know we need carbs, but as a diabetic, you need to watch your intake).
Like I said, to someone who cooks often with all the different ingredients called for in these recipes this would probably be perfect, but for me, it just didn’t do it.

I just didn’t realize all the meat dishes it would have. I try to avoid meat and dairy, but it is a nice book. I have a friend at work who will benefit from it. She just found she is diabetic, and is not a vegetarian.
