I am a graduate student at the University of Harford. I havejust finished Intro to Neurophysiology. The text, Fundamental Neuroscience was definately not “FUN”. The text was hard to follow, too many unnessary details, and figures that were to complicated to follow. Also, there was no space in the margins to take notes, and the summaries were as weak in descriptions as the chapters. I gave the text one star because hopefully this summer I’ll have a lot of bugs to kill, a 100 bucks for a fly swatter is a bargin these days.

I ordered Fundamentals of Neuroscience and then withdrew from the course. I contacted Collegebks4less before the 14 day deadline of their return policy. I contacted them by email as their link recommended. I recieved an email from their customer service department indicating that I would be contacted within 24 hours. 4 business days later, I still had no response. I contacted them again by email and a week and a half later, still have not received a response. They list no phone contact on their site – I wonder why? I contacted Amazon who directed me on what steps to take next. We will see if I get my refund from this route. However, I consider it extremely poor customer service and bad business and don’t feel this company should be allowed to conduct business through Amazon. I have always had great success with Amazon in the past.

This text is not appropiate for any for introductory class to neuroscience at any level (whether grad or undergrad). The depth and detail leaves the reader confused at best. Perhaps it is suitable for an advanced gradute seeking to remedy any detail oriented holes. For all others, it is a precursor to a headache.
The smart money would go with the Kandel who clearly defines
his purpose at the outset of his classic book.
(I notice that the reviewer ,who bestowed the text 4 stars, and the author both call San Diego their home.)

Terrible textbook. The only goodness is that it mentions lots of details not helpful for understanding. The concepts are very messy and not clear at all. It could not be a bad reference book. For a textbook, forget about it!

This book can make any person understand the basic aspects of Pathology, it requires a good level of Histology knowledge ( not more than a good approach of the previous course ). Excellent images and explanations make this issue a good purchase.
The only drawback I’ve found is the fancy words the authors use to define something it’s easy to understand, but after all I think it’s a vey good choice.
